Adding Inquiry to Your Teaching - Half-day (3 hours), 1-day (6 hours), or multi-day: Introductions to inquiry-based teaching with a focus on questioning techniques, achieving content goals of the NC Standard Course of Study, and using successful open-ended activities. Longer, multi-day workshops can be arranged. Training on Specific Science Kits - 1-day (6 hours) for 30 teachers: These sessions familiarize teachers with materials, techniques and content goals of specific kits. Training includes a few representative lessons that teachers experience as if they were students. Sessions reduce prep time and help to achieve content goals in a timely way. Contact us to request a specific kit training. Teaching with Kits - Half-day (3 hours) for 30 teachers: These sessions offer a generic introduction to key features of teaching science with kits to maximize learning. The training is offered separately for grade spans K-2, 3-5, and 6-8.
Science Program Management for Principals - Half-day (3 hours) for 25 principals: Workshops on site in your district prepare principals (K-5 and 6-8) to work with teachers who are using science kits. Session includes video examples, kit logistics, ways to help teachers, and use of an inquiry-based evaluation instrument.
Central Office Planning for K-8 Science Programs - Half-day (3 hours): A workshop/consultation, on-site in your district, on start-up or scale-up of your science program. Topics include problem solving on training needs, logistics, management, refurbishment, special communication needs, scheduling, and budgeting. Custom Training - Designed by you: These trainings can be requested at any time. CIBL will work to help you design the most efficient and effective training to meet your needs.
