Principal Resources : CIBL Planning at the District Level

Start planning for next year now by answering the following questions:
  • Which teachers will be going to TASC training? Potential district trainers?
  • Which of those teachers will attend in the fall cycle? The winter cycle?
  • Which of these teachers are eligible for kit loans and for how many kit loans are they eligible? How many of those kit loans do they want?
  • Who will pay for the training and/or kit loan(s)?
Keep the following in mind as you formulate training and kit loan plans for next year:
  1. Year round school schedules
  2. Middle schools that teach science on a semester basis
  3. District level school schedule
  4. Teachers’ availability

Our school districts with the most successful implementation have contacted teachers personally and surveyed their training and kit loan needs. They have accomplished this is by sending out form letters that must be completed by teachers and signed by principals. They have also found success by emailing teachers individually.

Talk to your teachers now, in the spring, and include their principals. Not only will this help your planning for TASC, it will help you make good curriculum purchasing plans for the textbook adoption funds you wish to allocate to kits. Log into our database for sample letters and other planning tools.
