Frequently Asked Questions

Kits
Q. When will my kit arrive?
A. Kits are shipped out on your first day of training. They should arrive within four business days. If you do not receive your kit, please email

Q. What is the deadline for returning my kit to CIBL?
A. The date of the kit return deadline is available on our calendar and is included in each kit on a pink sheet of paper.

Q. Is this deadline the last date to ship the kit or the date it must be received in the CIBL Warehouse?
A. This is the last date to ship the kit. Overdue kits are subject to a $100.00 late fee.

Q. If I forgot to return an item from my kit, how do I get it to the CIBL Warehouse?
A. Email and send items as soon as possible, to our shipping address:

            Tim MacAller-GSK
            Commerce Warehouse
            2512 S. Tricenter Blvd.
            Durham, NC 27713

Q. Why have I only received 8 student guides for my 24 students?
A. CIBL provides the number of student guides for each kit as specified by the kit vendor. We advocate sharing and working in groups.

Q. My kit was delivered to a different school in my district. Why did this happen?
A. Our shipper, Federal Express, sorts and bundles kits by delivery address. Occasionally, a kit with a different delivery address is included in a bundle by mistake.

Q. Teachers at my school who are not attending trainings received kits this week. I will be attending training, and have not received my kit. Why is this happening?
A. Teachers who have completed training in a previous year are eligible to borrow that kit from CIBL in subsequent years. These teachers are most likely receiving kit loans.

Q. I have called FedEx three times and they still haven’t picked up my kit. What do I do? Will I be responsible for late fees?
A. Contact immediately. We would not impose late fees if you have made an obvious effort to return the kit in a timely manner.
Trainings
Q. What time should I arrive? When will training end?
A. Plan to arrive between 8:15 AM and 8:45 AM. Security personnel will let you in through the rear entrance of our building. Trainings are scheduled to last until 4:00 PM.

Q. I want specific driving directions to the CIBL training center. Can you give me the physical address?
A. Our physical address and mapping assistance is available under Contact/Find Us, Phone/Address.

Q. What kind of food do you serve at CIBL?
A. We serve bagels, fruit and coffee for breakfast and sandwiches, chips and salad for lunch. If you have a special diet, you will want to pack a lunch and some snacks for training days.

Q. How should I dress for CIBL training?
A. Our dress code is casual. Your training may require working on the floor or with messy materials. We recommend dressing neatly, yet comfortably.

Q. How do I know if I am registered for a training?
A. You can login to our database at any time to check your registration.

Q. When am I scheduled to attend training?
A. You can check the dates of your training by logging in to our database. If you have any problems logging in, contact your district administrator.

Q. I tried to login, but I don't know my password. How can I get it?
A. On the login screen, we have a function that will email you your password. If you do not receive your password, your email security levels are probably filtering the automatic reply from our database. Please contact your district administrator.

Q. I am scheduled for a training that I cannot attend. What should I do?
A. Contact your district administrator.

Q. What do I need to bring to training?
A. We provide all materials needed for trainings.
Scientists
Q. How do I find out who my scientist is?
A. A. You will receive your scientist's contact information at training. Many scientists attend trainings in order to introduce themselves to you. You may also login to our database to find your scientist's contact information.

Q. Am I supposed to contact my scientist or wait for my scientist to contact me?
A. By all means, contact your scientist as soon as possible. Begin a dialogue even if you don't have specific questions.

Q. How are we supposed to collaborate? Should I just invite my scientist to my classroom?
A. Many teachers are inviting scientists to their classrooms. Sometimes scientists just visit and speak to children, and sometimes they take it a bit further. Some scientists prepare special lessons for the class, while others work with the class as the teacher leads the lesson. Conversely, some scientists do not visit classes in person, but have email relationships with students and/or teachers. You can be as creative as you like.
