Dave Smith

Prior to 1987, Dave taught middle and high school science,
math, and music. After earning his M.Ed. in 1987 in instructional Design
at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, he has been developing
science and environmental educational programs and materials for public
and private schools and universities, as well as for various local,
state, and federal governmental organizations. In 1999, he began working
with the Duke University Center for Inquiry-Based Learning (CIBL) to
help design the CIBL program and provide training in inquiry-based science
teaching in K-8 classrooms. Since 2002, he has been directing Teachers
and Scientists Collaborating (TASC) and is currently overseeing research
on the effects of that program.
